Congratulations! Director Dong-Jiing Doong has been honored with the 2023 “Water Resources Contribution Award” by the Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Director Doong specializes in marine meteorological and hydrological observation technologies, coastal protection, coastal hazard early warning systems, and the planning of marine recreational activities. He is one of the key driving forces behind the establishment of Taiwan’s nearshore hydrological observation network. Under his leadership, our team has actively advanced next-generation hydrological observation technologies, established standardized observation procedures, and developed coastal hydrological monitoring systems. In coordination with emergency response teams, the center provides 24-hour monitoring and support services during disaster periods, ensuring timely access to real-time hydrological information.

Director Doong has also been dedicated to the development of coastal hazard monitoring and forecasting technologies, including early warning systems for freak waves, rip currents, and wave run-up, offering valuable risk references for the public engaging in coastal recreational activities. In addition, he has participated in the European Union’s Nature-based Solutions (NBS) research framework, organizing forums and international training programs to promote the application of NBS in river and coastal governance.
