Marine Meteorological Monitoring Network
Operational Observation Stations around the Waters of Taiwan

Monitoring Stations Operated and Managed by the COMC
Since 1998, the COMC has been commissioned by government agencies such as the Central Weather Administration (CWA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Water Resources Agency (WRA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to operate and manage operational marine observation networks, including:
- A Marine Meteorological Monitoring Network for ocean forecasting purposes
- A Coastal Hydrological Monitoring Network for tidal defense and disaster prevention
- Marine Meteorological Observation Stations for marine recreation safety
As of 2025, a total of 67 operational observation stations are managed by COMC, including: 28 data buoy stations, 1 meteorological station, 10 tide–meteorological stations, 3 video monitoring stations, and 1 radar station. These stations form the fundamental infrastructure for marine forecasting, coastal disaster prevention, and emergency response. In addition, 21 display stations have been established to provide the public with real-time marine and meteorological information.
