Smart Beach refers to a system that utilizes modern technology to enhance the safety of beach activities. It is an integrated system combining artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and automated monitoring technologies. Smart Beach typically includes safety surveillance, environmental monitoring, real-time information display, and rescue systems. By using smart cameras, environmental sensors, and real-time data transmission and analysis, the Smart Beach system can monitor information such as crowd flow, sea conditions, water quality, and weather changes in real time. It can also detect the types and number of recreational activities in the coastal area and monitor the safety of visitors, including whether they have crossed warning lines or are at risk of drowning. The implementation of Smart Beach can allow visitors to safely enjoy the beauty of the beach and engage in recreational activities in safe waters. Smart Beach provides a better experience and benefits for both visitors and beach managers.
The planning and establishment of the Smart Beach demonstration site in Tainan City is funded by the Ocean Affairs Council (OAC), guided by the Tainan City Tourism Bureau, and implemented by the Coastal Ocean Monitoring Center (COMC) of National Cheng Kung University. The project period is from June to November 2024.
