The\u00a0microwave radar ocean remote sensing system\u00a0is one of the\u00a0latest ocean observation technologies\u00a0in the world. By combining\u00a0conventional marine navigation radar equipment\u00a0with\u00a0signal sampling and analysis technologies, the monitoring capability of microwave radar can be extended to observe various\u00a0ocean surface conditions. The advantages of this ocean monitoring technology include:<\/p>

  1. Unlike in-situ monitoring stations that measure temporal variations of sea conditions at a single point, microwave radar can observe\u00a0spatial variations\u00a0of the sea surface. Together, they provide a\u00a0complementary \u201cpoint\u2013area\u201d coverage\u00a0of ocean conditions.<\/li>
  2. The observation equipment can be\u00a0mounted on ships or installed on land, making installation\u00a0simple and convenient, with\u00a0lower maintenance costs\u00a0compared to offshore instruments.<\/li>
  3. When the radar system is installed on the coast, it is\u00a0less affected by marine forces, thereby\u00a0eliminating the risks associated with offshore operations.<\/li>
  4. The system uses\u00a0active electromagnetic waves\u00a0to monitor the sea surface, enabling\u00a0uninterrupted day-and-night observations.<\/li><\/ol>

    Originally, this type of\u00a0microwave radar\u00a0was used\u00a0solely as marine navigation equipment\u00a0and did not possess the capability to monitor ocean conditions. To extend its functionality for\u00a0ocean monitoring, it is necessary to integrate\u00a0automatic control,\u00a0high-speed sampling,\u00a0image processing, and\u00a0spectral analysis\u00a0technologies. At the current operational stage, the system can analyze\u00a0wave fields,\u00a0sea surface current fields, and\u00a0seabed topography and depth. By leveraging the radar\u2019s ability to operate continuously over long periods, the system provides valuable insights into\u00a0wave climate patterns\u00a0and\u00a0seabed topographic changes\u00a0in specific coastal regions, thereby\u00a0enhancing coastal management and planning capabilities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Since the\u00a0microwave radar ocean remote sensing technology\u00a0was first proposed in the\u00a01980s, it has been actively developed by research institutions worldwide. The\u00a0Coastal Ocean Monitoring Center (COMC)\u00a0has been engaged in the\u00a0research and development of this remote sensing technology for more than 20 years. COMC has independently developed the\u00a0core technologies\u00a0required for this system \u2014 including\u00a0radar hardware control,\u00a0echo signal acquisition,\u00a0system integration, and\u00a0ocean parameter retrieval\u00a0\u2014 and has obtained\u00a0several new patents\u00a0for its innovations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
