*   The Summary of Steering Committee Meeting of SAKE 2007

*   Activity of Training Program of SAKE 2007 (held in Bolinao Marine Biological Laboratory, Univ. of the Philippines)

*      Chinese-German Joint Symposium on Coastal and Ocean Engineering

The objective of this symposium is to create the platform for the Chinese and German scientists and engineers to share their ideas and experiences and is aiming at the contribution of more international research collaborations. COMC has been participated the symposium since 1997 and organized the symposium in 1999 and 2006.

*   APEC/MRC/OMISAR Project

The project “Ocean Model and Information System for the APEC Region (OMISAR)” is supported by the Marine Resource Conservation Working Group (MRC WG) of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Its objective lays on the encouragement of the exchange of marine data between the members of APEC. The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) of Chinese, Taipei had strived and is in charge of the project. Prof. C.C. Kao, the director of Coastal Ocean Monitoring Center and Prof. C.T. Liu of Institute of Oceanography at National Taiwan University were entrusted by EPA to participate the project since 2001.

*   NSC-DAAD Summer Institute Program

The purpose of the NSC/DAAD Summer Institute Program is to promote the bilateral cooperation and personal exchange of young scientific researchers between Republic of China and Germany. This program is supported by the National Science Council (NSC) of Republic of China and the Deutscher AkademischerAustausch Dienst (DAAD) of Germany jointly. About Ten Chinese and Ten German graduated students are selected collectively by NSC and DAAD as the beneficiaries that spend eight weeks (or twelve weeks) during the summer vacation visiting the opposite side. The CoastalOceanMonitoringCenter and GermanCenter at NationalChengKungUniversity were entrusted by NSC as the executive organization, which is in charge of associated planning, coordinating and organizing affairs.

*   NSC-DAAD PPP Program

The National Science Council (NSC) of Republic of China signed technology cooperation agreement with the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) of Germany. Under the agreement, bilateral cooperative activities are arranged, involving exchange visits, joint seminars and research projects. In 1998, the NSC and DAAD set up a special program known as PPP (Project-based Personal exchange Program), to increase collaboration between research teams in both countries as well as to help young scientists explore possibilities for international cooperation. COMC has been earned expenditure support for two PPP programs since 1998. They are

*   NSC-DAAD Sandwich Program

The National Science Council (NSC) of Republic of China signed technology cooperation agreement with the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) of Germany. In 1989, the NSC and the DAAD began the Sandwich Program, which gives financial support to Ph.D. degree candidates in various academic disciplines for research visits to German universities and research institutes. COMC research students, Dr. H. Chien, Dr. D.J. Doong earned the scholarship and have finished their studies. Dipl. M.D. Chiuo and Dipl. Y.M. Fan are currently (in year 2006) executing the project.
